Mating Time!

Completed my punch list which consisted of torquing the fuel line and brake line fittings in preparation for tailcone installation. Then, per a VAF post, I trial fitted the F-1201A, Firewall Upper (Page 29-02) and the F-1202B Panel Base (Page 29-04) to the fuselage. Both fit rather well to the forward top of the longerons. I might have to bend them in just a bit or be careful when match drilling them. It is obvious you will want to match drill the aft hole, then cleco and work forward when getting to this step.

Prepped the tailcone by bending the tabs in accordance with the plans (they really were not that critical). Waited until Adam got off of the bus from school and we fitted the tailcone to the fuselage. This took about an hour. The plans are rather good here. Ensure the skin overlaps are in accordance with them. This is amazing, ALL of the holes aligned perfectly.

Then, spent about an hour sitting in the garage admiring the completed project. Best part, can still fit Renee's van in the garage. She is happy, I am HAPPY!

It is also getting warmer here. Had the garage door open again during the build. Looking forward to interior paint. Having the garage door open will make painting a bit more enjoyable.

Before riveting anything, I will ensure the skin overlaps are correct!
