Continued Fiberglass Prep

During the past two days, continued to prep for fiberglass. I formed the foam blocks to the fuselage contour using a piece of 3" x 16" hardwood. Stapled a strip of 80 grit sandpaper and sanded the foam, forward and aft per the plans. On one of the foam blocks, the foam broke out at the forward corner. I probably did not have enough epoxy near the bolt hole under the foam. Ensure you put some around the bolt hole on the inside foam surface using a toothpick. Built the area back up using some epoxy and flox.

Cut out the templates and attached them to the fuselage. Attached the black tape to the canopy on the left and right sides. The instructions are not too clear for the tape across the center. They say to project a line from one side to the other. Running a string from one side to the other does not look right. I tried to stay the same distance from the aft edge of the tube across the center. Sent pictures to some fellow builders for comments. Traced the outline for the first ply onto the duct tape and added a couple of reference marks for the center of the pivot bolt.

Cut the 1/8" wide shelf at the top of the foam. There is NOT much of a shelf. It might be 1/16" deep, if that. I'm guessing, but the purpose of the shelf must be to keep the glass from sliding down the vertical surface of the foam??
